Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. She is also the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official of the United States. A member of Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general for California from 2011 until 2017, and also as an United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010, Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator and campaigned for reforms to healthcare and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for the possibility of citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons as well as progressive tax reform. She earned national attention for her provocative examination of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of assault on a woman.
